History of Ondjiviro
Ondjiviro’ is a Herero-word meaning knowledge and professional.
Ondjiviro Hunting Safaris was born out of passion and love for hunting and nature.
Volca Otto, co-owner and PH at Ondjiviro Hunting Safaris, growing up on his family farm in the north, he shot and hunted numerous game and birds before he could read and write. His passion for hunting was cemented and fueled by these early years of hunting game on his father’s farm, with numerous big herds of kudu, eland, warthog and guinea fowls. It is here where his father taught him respect for nature at all times.
Because of his love for hunting he later moved to South-Africa and did his PH apprenticeship in Limpopo province. He then started his professional hunting career with Neil Barnard at NB Safaris. It is here where he was taught professional hunting in the real sense of the word; as well as where his passion for bowhunting started.
After a few years he eventually moved back to his roots and ended up in the beautiful Kalahari, with his wife, Marelize and two boys, where he co-founded Ondjiviro Hunting Safaris, together with partners from the Netherlands and Belgium.
